What to Expect

The Genoa Candy Dance Faire is one of Northern Nevada’s best-known annual arts and crafts events, held in historic Genoa during the last full weekend of September. This long-running tradition dates back to 1919, when the community first organized the Candy Dance to raise money for street lights, and it has grown into a major two-day event that still reflects the town’s heritage and community spirit.

Visitors can expect a large outdoor faire spread throughout town with more than 400 vendors offering arts, crafts, food, and activity booths. The event draws thousands of people to Genoa each year and combines shopping, small-town atmosphere, and the tradition of homemade candy sales that remain part of the event’s identity.

In addition to browsing artisan booths, visitors will find food options, historic small-town charm, and the well-known Saturday night Dinner & Dance for ticket holders. For those looking for a large fall craft fair near Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Minden, or Gardnerville, the Genoa Candy Dance Faire offers a memorable weekend of shopping, tradition, and seasonal community celebration.

FAQs

  • Is it free? Check the official event website for current visitor admission details.
  • How does parking work? Public parking is available in designated lots for a fee, with free shuttles running between the lots and the faire.
  • Are dogs allowed? Dogs and pets are not allowed in Mormon Station State Park during the faire, and the town discourages bringing pets because of the crowds.
